Hello, and thanks to our friends at MadDogSki for asking us to blog from the Serre Chevalier valley this season.

John Muir said “The mountains are calling and I must go”, and it's fantastic to see that skiers and snowboarders share Muir's vision, not letting the financial doom and gloom prevent them from getting out and enjoying the mountains. Once the snow had arrived this season, with two massive storms before Christmas, we were inundated with enquiries and bookings for holidays.

Snow news

Spring has completely arrived now. We haven’t seen any real snowfall for a good couple of weeks. Most mornings are usually bright and clear with temperatures gradually increasing as the day progresses. A lot of the snow has started to melt and the occasional spell of rain is only helping to make conditions more Spring like. The park is also open nearly everyday now with a typically chilled vibe that is typical of the area as the season draws towards its final month.

After having spent most of the season, exploring the infamous tree’s of Serre Chevalier, I decided it was time to step a little further out of bounds. Fortunately, a work colleague of mine, and Serre Che resident, was more than happy to show me some of the better open face off-piste that the area has to offer.

Snow news

Powder time! After a few weeks of fairly average snow, things have finally started to improve.
Last week we had around 15cm of fresh snow and for the last 3 days, it has been snowing non stop. What makes conditions even more ideal for the powder-hungry individual, is that a fair percentage of tourists seem to be adverse to even stepping foot on the mountain, unless of course, the sun is shining.

Every once in a while we at Mad Dog get a chance to leave the desk behind and head for the thing we all desire most at this time of year, the mountains.

This time it was my turn!

So with everything booked well in advance we got in the car and started our journey to Serre Chevalier.

Snow News

After a fairly abysmal start to the season the snow eventually started falling after two weeks of sunshine. Since then we have had more than our fair share of powder days and more recently, periods of blue sky conditions that often last all day long. Although most people are glad to enjoy the recent sunshine it is clear that a fresh dump would make conditions all the better. Some areas are starting to get a little icy.
