Since their launch in 1995 the Winter X Games have come to be known as one of the biggest freestyle skiing and snowboarding events on the calendar. Until recently they had never been hosted in Europe, but Tignes is holding them for the 3rd time this year from the 14th to the 16th March.
Fancy a bit of early skiing ? Tignes is open from 25th September 2010 so you get can out on the Grande Motte glacier before everybody else. They are offering 6 lifts open and at over 3000 metres altitude you are guaranteed some stunning views as well as some good early snow.
The glacier is accessed via the Perce-Neige funicular, take just 7 minutes, open 8.30am to 14.45pm.

Ski Club are holding a new event in Tignes on Wednesday 7th April - Dual Slalom. They are teaming up with Evolution 2 to host the event which promises to be a fun filled day for all - with fancy dress (optional but you really should!), free drink, great prizes and an after party.
For over 20 years, La Clusaz has been celebrating the end of the season with a two day festival, the ‘Defi Foly’, at Lake Confins in Lake Annecy Ski Resorts region. This weekend, 28th and 29th April, over 150 crazy competitors will try and cross the 180m lake on all manner of sliding objects, from skis, to snowboards to monoskis, all trying to beat the 155m record set in 2010.
