Last season blog from St Anton

Last update from St Anton:
The snow is fast turning from slushy moguls to muddy grass, the sun seems to be shining rather a lot, and this is the last report from St Anton for season 2010. I thought I would get in to the end of season spirit and ask a kangaroo court of winter only residents for their thoughts on the bests of the season. Here goes:
Best Skier: Nathan Reed. Its official.
Best Snowboarder: Jurgen from Jennewein Nasserein.
Best Telemarker: Paul Ogle. Ok, so I don't know any other telemarkers, but well done anyway Paul.
Best Chalet Company (to work for): Skiworld. Bit of a surprise this one, but despite the pay being typically low, Skiworld have a tight crew this year, everyone seems pretty happy and the resort management have arranged a variety of day off activities to keep everyone keen.
Best Bar: Platzl. Easliy the friendliest bar in town as well, its usually the first stop for those on a big night and perfect for those having a slightly quieter evening. Its got sofa's, a fire and an awesome band on Saturday nights.
Best Coffee: Grunbeck. This is the way coffee should be served. Shot of espresso, jug of hot water, glass of cold water, chocolate. You can spend hours in here.
Best Chalet (to work in): Landhaus Moos B. Hands down easy to run (2 staff for 11 guests, no canape or cheeseboard nonesense) immaculately looked after by Brigitta the owner, ski in/out, 100m from the three main apres bars. Probably the best oven in Anton as well.
Best Rental Shop: Surfers Paradise (West End) Friendly and helpful staff, and I lost count of the times they fixed my broken board this season. Closely followed by Sno' Control.
Best Story: The one about the skier who cut off his own leg-cast with a breadknife. You all know who you are!
Best Hoody: The Natives one. Obviously.
Best Lift: Contentious issue, this one, but most opted for the Rendlbahn for obvious reasons.
Best Off Piste Run (Lift Accessed): Backside. Always gets more snow than you expect and has a massive area accessable from the top of Zammermoos.
Best Off Piste Run: Maroikopf to Langen via the Lodge and trees. Ok, you have to hike 20 mins to get up Maroi, but hell is it worth it. Pick your route. See the photos.
Enjoy your summer everyone!
