Feel the love

Cinnamon hearts, warm fuzzy feelings and the colour red, from time immemorial that's Valentine's Day. Besides the chocolate the best part of this day is it's a day to acknowledge love.
Valentine's Day, seems to have been reduced to boyfriends griping about not knowing what to do with their girlfriends and singles stressing about not having dates. It's a shame. Why fret if you’re single on this day? There are other loves that need to be taken care of. Friends, roommates, family real or acquired.
For me this time of the year is the mark of the great love affair of my life, the mountain. I've enjoyed a few different mountains here and there but my most steady relationship has been Whistler. It was this time of the year I moved to Whistler, making it officially eleven years we have been together. It was this time of the year I returned like the prodigal son back from Andorra last winter. It was also this time a few years ago, Whistler and I had a bit of a spat and I packed up, moving to Golden, BC, thinking I would never return.
Our road has indeed been a rocky one, like any great love. One thing I learned about relationships over the years is that the perfect ones rise above imperfections. Whistler has made it a challenge to stay together but here I am and I can still include this photo expressing my love even though my right hand will be in a cast for three weeks because of an accident on the mountain. Oh Whistler!
About the author
I was born in Quesnel, B.C., Canada, the heart of B.C's forestry industry. We had a ski hill within an hour's drive from town, and I made many trips out there with friends and family. I always loved it, and said to myself that on the slopes was right where I wanted to spend the rest of my days. Still, I didn't think that was possible, until I moved to Whistler. I've lived there the for the last nine years and haven't looked back. But it is also my dream to ride in my father's home country, Bosnia
