New swimming pool in Morzine

During the summer months, the outdoor swimming pool is the place to hang out in Morzine. But unlike other major ski resorts, there has been no indoor, winter alternative. Until now.
After years of planning, a multi-million pound investment and some speculation over the actual opening date, Morzine now has a brand new, super smart indoor swimming pool, which opens this Wednesday, 25th January. The new facility is on the same site as the outdoor pool, just beyond the Palais du Sport (AKA The Skoda Arena), under the Super Morzine bridge. The main swimming pool is 25m x 15m and there are also 3 saunas, 2 hammams, a kid’s pool and a learner’s pool.
However… there is some contention over the opening times and prices. At the moment, the pool will open between 12.30pm and 7.30pm Monday to Friday with late night opening on a Wednesday evening until 9pm. At the weekends the pool will open at 2.30pm until 7.30pm. The town hall in Morzine have suggested that these hours may be extended to include a morning swimming session once the facility is open. And then there are the prices: €7 for adults (€14 to include the saunas and hammam) and €5 for children. It’s fair to say that despite the delayed opening, shorter than expected opening hours and quite high entry prices, the new swimming complex is a great addition to Morzine for both holiday makers and those of use who live here year round!
Elsewhere the snow is excellent! The 30cm that fell on Friday night made Saturday another epic powder day and the runs in Lindaret were un-pisted – so much fun! Sunday brought poor visibility but a lot of fun and today there are blue skies… so I’m off to enjoy them!
