Mayrhofen — Food and drink

With more than 30 restaurants in Mayrhofen you are guaranteed a good selection of food. The vast majority are family-run ‘stuberls’ offering traditional Tyrolean fare such as sausages and dumplings, but there are Chinese and Italian restaurants in the centre of town too. Have a dig around and ask some good local venues at the tourist office as some of the smaller local restaurants are pretty epic!  

Vegetarians welcome

Vegetarians will be pleasantly surprised by the options in Mayrhofen compared to other alpine resorts. Most menus offer some good options not confined to bread and cheese. 

Mountain restaurants

On the mountain there are a huge number of mountain huts that offer everything from a gastronomic experience to a self-service sandwich. Prices are generally quite good and restaurants are shown on the piste map in yellow. Quality of food and price are leagues ahead of any French restaurants we've been to but if you're all about food, it's not Italy.  

Après ski

Mayrhofen comes alive after the lifts close, but it is difficult to categorise the clientele. Young partygoers and a more refined audience are equally well catered for with raucous bars and comfortable lounges. Whichever category you fall in to, make sure you try a locally distilled fruit schnapps at some point!
