Chatel — Where to stay

Although this is ultimately a French resort, packages from Britain are not hard to find. There are plenty of bigger tour operators who offer a multitude of apartments, chalets and hotel accommodation, as well as the usual in-resort run places. If you want the flexibility of being self-catered for meals times etc, try Alpine Answers. The other good place to find self-catered chalets or apartments is usually through the tourist office. They will be able to advise on location and standards and possibly even check on availability for you.
 
There are plenty of British catered chalet operators in Chatel and quite often these provide better value for money than self-catering. Don’t be fooled in to thinking that you have to book Saturday to Saturday as with the level of competition in this area there will always be someone who will take your booking for a short break or unusual dates. Ask the question and you may be surprised by what is possible!
 
If food is your passion you can’t go wrong with a stay at the Belalp, a simple chalet with rooms on the small side, but widely recognised for its excellent cuisine. Macchi is a modern chalet, and is the most centrally located of the 3-star chalets, whilst Rhododendrons is recognised as a good all-rounder. If it's simply enjoying being in the mountains, without the distractions, Kandahar is a Logis by the river and a walkable distance from the centre.
