Courchevel — On the piste
Welcome to the biggest linked ski area in the world and also one of the most impressive. If you haven’t skied here before, nothing prepares you for the vastness that awaits you. America’s six largest ski resorts would fit into the Three Valleys. There are over 200 lifts, all with hands-free pass systems, and you can probably travel around this ski area for an entire week without covering the same ground twice.
Beginners are best served by excellent nursery areas in the villages of 1650 and 1850 and early intermediates will probably have sufficient terrain around Courchevel to never leave the one valley all week. Red run skiers will love the long, sweeping Creux or the more challenging Combe de la Saulire. More advanced skiers can test their mogul skills on Suisses but will also love Chanrossa. The Tour du Rocher de l’Ombre is a great first foray into off-piste, but a guide is essential.
