Le Grand Bornand — Food and drink

As with all ski resorts these days there are plenty of places for pizza and pasta but there are also lots of restaurants which specialise in traditional Savoyard fare; tartiflette is particularly important here as the distinctive Reblochon cheese is produced in this valley. There are almost 30 restaurants between Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon so there is a reasonable choice, but the locals will tell you that if you have transport it is worth driving to La Ferme de Lormay – an 18th Century farmhouse serving some of the best steaks in the Alps.
 
On the mountain the 13 huts are again mostly ancient farmhouses serving traditional cuisine, so if you are a vegetarian be prepared for a cheese-filled week! A lot of the best apres ski bars are around the foot of the slopes in Chinaillon, and there is something to suit most tastes without being a major party destination. The Floria café hosts fun karaoke and torchlit descent nights.
