Le Grand Bornand — On the piste

Le Grand Bornand has 39 lifts that serve 90km of piste, some of which is above 2000m and the resort has also invested in snowmaking facilities to aid 18km worth of lower slopes. There is something for everyone locally but if staying for a full week anyone of more than a confident intermediate standard will want the wider Aravis Ski area Pass in order to open up the more challenging and varied slopes of La Clusaz.
 
There are five main ski areas: Le Maroly, Le Col des Annes, La Floria, Le Lachat and Joyere. The latter of these is a sunny spot with great slopes for learners, as well as the favourite spot of Europe’s largest bird of prey, the Gypaete. The terrain around Le Lachat is great for intermediates with fun reds and challenging off-piste, but it can feel very exposed on a windy day. The best option locally for experts is to hone their off-piste skills around Le Col des Annes.
 
New for 2010/11 season ar improvements to Envers piste, with an addition of 28 snow cannons which means you can now ski back into the village. This will increase the surface area by more than 10%.
