Le Grand Bornand — Planning your trip
The closest major airport is Geneva (Switzerland) which is just 50km from Le Grand Bornand and has the most transport links to transfer you to the resort. The next biggest airport is Lyon St Exupery. Chambery and Grenoble are between these two larger airports in distance, if not convenience. Trains are an easy and an eco-friendly way of travelling down to the Alps from the UK. There are no direct snow trains from London to Le Grand Bornand, but there few options all of which entail taking the Eurostar from London to Paris (Nord). Cross Paris to Gare du Lyon and travel to Annecy which is just 30km from the resort and serviced by regular buses. Alternatively, travel by TGV in 4 hours from Paris to Geneva Airport and take a transfer to Le Grand Bornand.
Bus transfers from Geneva are available and are often the most economical option. If you opt to hire a car simply head towards Chamonix/ Mont Blanc on the A41 and exit at Junction 16 for Bonneville. Drive through St Pierre en Faucigny following the signs for Le Grand Bornand. If you are staying in the village of Chinaillon it is an extra 8km beyond Le Grand Bornand on the same road. Driving all the way to Le Grand Bornand will take you about 10 hours once you reach Calais or Boulogne. The motorways are the quickest route but you will have to pay around €69 in toll charges each way.
