Les Arcs — Things to do

Les Arcs has loads of non-skiing activities. Some are still on the mountain like the sledge track (Rodeo Park), Husky rides (at Pre St. Esprit below Arc 1950), the ice cave at the top of Arcabulle/Transarc. You can even but pulled around on your skis by a horse (ski joering) in Arc 1600. But there are also a range of spas, a cinema in 1800 and bowling alleys and games rooms to keep you pampered and entertained!

Sports and activities

Some of the hotels and spas also have gyms. There is a golf course in the summer but you can also try out golf on the snow! There are several large cross country ski areas, all of which are free apart from the largest at Nancroix which is accessible by free shuttle bus. There are squash courts in Arc 1800.

Relaxation

Some of the pools and spas are only for the guests of the hotels where they are situated. Others like the new Deep Nature Spa in 1950 are open to all. They offer massages and beauty treatments as well as steam rooms and a bathing area. The Hotel du Golf in 1800 also has a Deep Nature Spa. The Club Med in Arc 2000 has a well equipped gym for its clients.

Shopping

Les Arcs has a lot to offer in the way of shops. There are the usual ski and snowboard shops as well as those selling local produce like cured meats, cheese and wine. In 1950 there are some quite fancy boutiques including one just for kids called “Les Petits Troubadours”. Anything you can't find in resort you'll almost certainly get in Bourg St. Maurice but, for a week's holiday, the mountain villages do have most of what you'd need. Remember that resort prices (particularly groceries) can be double what they would be in the valley.

Events

There are various regular and one-off events that take place in Les Arcs over the winter. During the holiday periods there are usually torchlit descents and fireworks displays. Les Arcs is home to the Gavaggio Monster Cross (GMX), a junior skier cross event held annually. There is also an evening Freestyle display event in February called the L.A. Session.
The 2nd European Festival of Cinema was held here in December and there will be several international races held in the resort later this winter.
