Les Carroz — On the piste

Les Carroz is ideal for novices and its ski schools have an excellent reputation amongst families with young children, but beyond nervous intermediate stage it is well worth paying the extra for the full area pass. For an extra 8 Euros per day you can access double the terrain, the majority of which is higher up in Flaine. It is also worth noting that the resort offers free lift passes to children over Christmas and Easter.
 
The tree-lined slope of Lou Daubes is the natural progression after the nursery slopes, whilst true intermediates will be spoilt for choice. Consider having a run on the wide open Stade competition piste in Morillon, the home of the current Men’s Olympic Downhill Champion Antoine Deneriaz. In Flaine the Diamant Noir is devilishly steep and bumpy for advanced skiers. Off-piste skiing is superb around here but a guide is essential due to the large holes that form in the soft rock formations.
