Les Gets — Resort services
Les Gets offers everything you could possibly need for a one-week ski holiday, whether it is food provisions or a cashpoint or somewhere to check your emails. There is a petrol station just beyond the roundabout near Mont Chery and if you get in to any difficulties with your car there are two garages. There are a few taxis although it is worth booking in advance as they can be scarce on a popular evening. Should you require anything more complex during your stay the nearest large town is Cluses at around 30 minutes drive away.
Cashpoints
There are plenty of cashpoints in the main street in Les Gets with branches of many of the main banks such as Credit Agricole, Banque Populaire and Credit Mutuel. Some of the bars have cashpoints in them too but be sure to check how much you will be charged to use such services as they can be expensive.
Internet
The best way to access internet in resort is to stay in accommodation that offers a wifi connection. More and more chalets and apartments now have this facility but if not there are plenty of bars and cafes in the town that will allow internet access in exchange for buying a drink. Bar Bush and the Pub Irlandais are two such examples. The base station of the Perrier chairlift also has a wifi hotspot.
Medical facilities
The medical centre in Les Gets is well equipped and open all day every day. They have their own in-house x-ray equipment and there is also a pharmacy nearby for any prescriptions. They are used to British visitors so language is not normally a barrier to getting the correct treatment! For any serious injuries requiring hospital attention the nearest hospital is in the city of Cluses, about 30 minutes drive away.
Supermarkets
There is a small supermarket in the centre of Les Gets (Shopi) and this tends to be open until about 7.30pm. If you are staying at the Perrieres end of the town you may find it easy to use the nearby Sherpa mini market. These shops are adequate for basic supplies but if you are looking for a better selection head down the valley to Tanninges. Super U is about 20 minutes away but has a better choice when it comes to fresh meat, cheese and fish counters. Prices are better when you drop down out of the mountains too!
Getting around resort
The best way to get around the resort is probably on foot as in such a small town everything is pretty convenient anyway. If you are staying in one of the outlying districts you will probably find that the navette bus service operates every 20 minutes or so. Within the town centre a small road train does a circuit to link the Chavannes lift with the one on the other side of the town at Mont Chery. In reality though this is only a 5-minute walk anyway.
