Tignes — Families
What with free ice-skating, dedicated sledging zones and the swimming pool, kids will definitely sleep well on this holiday!
There are toboggan zones for families to enjoy sledging safely in all the villages. There are many establishments selling pancakes and waffles – ideal for a teatime treat. There is also entertainment hosted by the resort each week – often only available during the school holiday periods, offering anything from face painting, playing games and, during the Christmas holidays, Santa visits Tignes too! Children under 5 years of age can access the swimming pool free of charge.
Ski schools for children
The ski schools in Tignes who specialise in children’s group lessons are: Evolution 2, ESF, 333, Snocool and New Generation. TDC, Ski Encore and Ultimate. Various independent guides also offer private coaching for children. For the under 5s, les Marmottons are based in le Lac and Val Claret and offer half day or full day lessons mixed with play within their enclosed snow garden, focusing on fun as well as learning.
Childcare
Many of the main tour operators such as Crystal, Mark Warner and Ski Esprit offer child-care as part of their package. Their nannies run the children’s clubs and escort children to and from ski school and supervise their lunches. If you have not opted for this service, you can book independent nannies via companies such as T4 Nanny and Snowbabies. You may also find a list of babysitters at the tourist office as well as on the public notice boards around resort. Les Marmottons cater for 3-5 year olds within their snowgarden as do ESF.
Activities
Attractions good for families are horse riding (there are miniature ponies for the very young), husky sledge rides, ice skating and swimming.
