La Thuile — Food and drink

During the day there are sufficient food and drink options on the slopes without having the rich variety that can be found in other Italian resorts. There are 8 mountain huts and with another 8 on the French side you should find something to suit, whether you fancy a simple sandwich or a hearty local dish washed down by a classic 'alla valdostanna' coffee. In town the variety of restaurants is better with around 20 to choose from in the old village and the slopeside resort of Planibel. Most are family-run places serving traditional Aosta Valley cuisine, but there is a considerable French influence in many places due to the proximity to the border.
 
It is fair to say that La Thuile does not rank highly as an après ski destination, but there should be enough to amuse anyone for a week with most of the hotels having nice bars, and a couple of nightspots in the Planibel complex that stay open until 4am.
