St Moritz — On the piste

St Moritz may be one of the most famous ski resorts in the world but it refuses to rest on its laurels. The constant improvement of the infrastructure and addition of many new quad and 6-man chairlifts is impressive, but this is reflected in the comparatively expensive lift pass prices. Snowboarders will enjoy this area with several snowparks and half-pipes in the area. The first European Snowboarding Championships were held here in 1987.
 
A glance at the piste map will tell you that St Moritz isn't the first choice for expert skiers but there’s plenty of off-piste that doesn’t get tracked out as quickly as it may elsewhere.  Intermediates are well served by uncomplicated reds and for beginners, there’s the Corviglia or Salastrains slopes, albeit with no easy links between them.  At times the strong sun can leave pistes bare and prone to moguls but generally the snow is good with pistes well groomed and backed up by comprehensive snowmaking.
