Verbier — Where to stay
Verbier has grown quickly over the last 40 years but thankfully, due to strict planning laws, retains a rustic, alpine charm and welcoming, village feel. You will notice however that it is still growing; chalets and apartments at various stages of build are going up around the resort. Desired accommodation for tourists coming to Verbier is in the centre of town where shops, bars, restaurants and the main Medran lift station are all in walking distance. Quieter places to stay can be found in Savoleyres and Haneau, near to Les Esserts nursery slope, and towards Patier, around Les Moulin baby slope.
Catered chalets are the most popular type of accommodation here and properties tend to rise up the hillside behind the church towards Savoleyres. The chalet option often includes a guiding service, which is particularly useful to make the most of the impressive skiing on offer. Ski Verbier run one of the best chalet operations with plenty to choose from. Visitors in search of luxury should consider Chalet d’Adrien with 25 beautifully furnished rooms and excellent cooking. As one of the best known resorts in Europe it is no surprise that Verbier boasts a wealth of hotels too, and these are mostly upmarket and right in the centre of resort. Self-catering is the least popular choice for accommodation here but the centrally located and spacious apartments at Vanessa are worth a look. There are plenty of excellent restaurants to sample if cooking your own dinner doesn’t appeal!
