Chairlift chill-out

Slowly the adrenaline of the last run begins to subside, and your breathing slows down again. You wriggle your toes to warm them up, and dare to wrestle your phone or camera out of your pocket, look at it, put it back again. Maybe you blow your nose or put on some more suncream, fish a few squares of chocolate out of your pocket, perhaps have a cigarette.

And then, when all the fiddling is over there might still be a sneaky five minutes of calm with which to gaze at the snow, the trees, the lovely landscape you are flying over, before you get to the top and plunge back into it.

So here, for your enjoyment, are some favourite lift moments. Just because. We reckon they might be good for inspiring a moment of zen calm in a busy day - put the headphones on and let your mind drift.

If you have any to add, email them to us here and we'll put them up.

One of the best powder days ever, in Ramsau, Mayrhofen, Austria

by Hannah

This is way old - it was 2004 in fact. Ramsau is a tiny hill on the other side of the valley from Mayrhofen, and the only access lift is a squeaky single chair, or at least it was in 2004. No crowds, heaps of new powder, and that intense, creaky silence that you get from snow-laden forest.

And the same resort just five days later...

What a difference a few degrees makes. The last video was from the 9th of March, this one was from the 14th. Five little days - that's the March gamble for you.

Snowcover was still great up there, but on the way up all you could see was ice melting, trees thinking about coming back to life, and animals getting ready to go spring crazy.

Celebrating managing a drag lift, on a snowboard, with one hand

This was a big moment for me, plus I liked the way the groomer grooves went by, a bit like being on a record perhaps. Far out, man.
